Steve Murdock, LCPC, is a behavioral health therapist at Mercy & Truth Healthcare Ministry and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Kansas. With nearly eight years of clinical experience, he helps patients in Johnson and Wyandotte Counties work through anxiety, mood challenges and more complex conditions, including bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder.

Steve’s approach is practical and collaborative. He draws primarily from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and adapts his methods to each person’s situation, so patients leave feeling heard, understood and equipped with tools for lasting change. For patients who want it, Steve thoughtfully integrates Christian faith into counseling, supporting both emotional and spiritual growth as part of whole-person care.

Before becoming a counselor, Steve served as an international and domestic missionary, chaplain and pastor, experiences that shaped the compassion he brings to every session. He is a husband, father and grandfather who enjoys music, writing, reading and savoring a delicious ice cream float on a hot summer afternoon.

At Mercy & Truth, Steve works alongside our primary care providers at our clinics in Kansas City, Kansas, and Shawnee, so patients can care for their mental health in a place they already know and trust.
